Journalists and citizen journalists in Central Asia can register for a free online training course on covering minority issues. The course will be in Russian. Deadline: September 27.

The course is being offered by Transitions Online, a Prague-based international publishing and media development organization. It will last for five weeks.

Journalists in Latin America can submit works that promote tolerance to a competition organized by the International Federation of Journalists. Deadline: September 20.

Works should seek to erradicate racism and discrimination and contribute to the tolerance and understanding of cultural differences, religious beliefs and ethnic diversity.

The winner will receive US$1,000.

Journalists with an interest in cultural reporting can register for a course offered by the University of Chile. Deadline: June 8.

The course intends to train journalists in the theory and practice that will help them cover culture, including literature and film in Chile. Topics also include fundaments of the editorial market, cultural politics and more.

Journalists from the Czech Republic can apply to take part in "Colorful but Colorblind," a project for journalists aimed at promoting the creative use of multimedia in reporting minority issues, to take place June 7 to 11. Deadline to apply: May 12.
