A workshop that will gather 20 directors and managing editors of regional newspapers in Latin America will be offering training and consultancy in media convergence and online news production. The event is scheduled for June 30 to July 3 in Bogotá, Colombia. Deadline: June 21.

Young journalists (no older than 35) in member countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are invited to attend a training course on freedom and responsibility in the media, to be held in Accra, Ghana from September 27 to October 10. Deadline: July 24.

November 16 will mark the start of the fifth edition of an online course on print media, designed to teach techniques for digital convergence through online modules.

A recent report produced by the Argentinian-base Association of Civil Rights highlighted various forms of indirect government censorship in Latin America designed to influence content, including withholding or granting public advertising funds and denying broadcast licenses on the basis of critical coverage.
