    Photojournalists worldwide are invited to participate in the second China International Press Photo Contest, to be held in Shenzhen, in Southern China. Submission deadline: February 15.

  • Photojournalism, media management among topics in training series

    Russian journalists can apply for any of several seminars planned for the next few months, organized by a Swedish training group.

    The Institute for the Further Education of Journalists (FOJO) will conduct the training with support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). All the training will be conducted in Russian.

  • Al-Jazeera center offers variety of training in 2006

    A journalism training center run by the popular Al-Jazeera news channel has released its 2006 course calendar. Much like last year, the center is offering a wide variety of courses for journalists who can afford tuition.

    The Al-Jazeera Media Training and Development Center offers courses taught by experienced trainers, through a contract with the U.K.-based Thomson Foundation. Since it opened nearly two years ago, the center says, more than 2,500 journalists have participated in more than 170 training courses.

  • National awards open to Colombian journalists and students

    A Bogotá journalists’ association is conducting a competition for Colombian journalists who work for national or foreign news media. Submission deadline: January 13.

    The Bogotá Journalists Circle (CPB) will present awards in six categories: print, radio, TV, photography, political cartoons, and the Internet.

  • World Press Photo Contest accepting entries

    Photojournalists around the world have until January 12 to enter the prestigious World Press Photo Contest. Winners receive cash prizes and trips to the award ceremony in the Netherlands.
