    Nine employees of Iran’s Mardom No (“New People”) newspaper were fired from their jobs after they demanded their legal rights under the law.   One of the paper’s journalists said: “From the moment this newspaper was published, it has never had a manager who would stand by us.”

    He added that the journalists demanded their rights to have insurance and security – basic rights which have long been ignored.

    Twenty copy editors and page designers of the government-owned newspaper Iran were laid off after writing a letter of protest against the non-payment of their salaries.

    According to a report by Rooz, the employees and journalists who worked at Iran Zamin section of the newspaper had no insurance or contract.

    A plan being developed by Singapore’s government would increase the pool of skilled individuals to support the country’s growing media industry.

    The masterplan, known as the “Singapore Media Fusion 2015,” involves 'significant' government resources toward developing home-grown talent and attracting skilled foreigners, according to an article in Asia Media.

    The plan’s aim is to make the country the best place to develop, host and distribute media content, the article says.
