Journalists and lawyers from six Arab countries can apply for a long-term regional program that aims to develop journalists’ capacity to serve as journalism trainers in their media organizations, the Center for Defending Freedom of Journalists (CDFJ) reported.

The first phase of the training program “Investing in the Future” will include training courses that will be held from March to November of 2007. The goal is to train 120 journalists as trainers.

Journalists or students interested in issues related to the growth of digital media have the opportunity to attend a three-day conference in Auckland, New Zealand.

The will be a new cadre of women prepared to train fellow journalists in Sri Lanka, if an ongoing project on gender equity is successful. A train-the-trainers workshop is scheduled for October 19 to 22 in Kandy.

Asian broadcast journalists interested in training their colleagues can apply for a workshop in Beijing, China. It is scheduled for October 10 to 23.

The workshop, organized by the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development will be hosted by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) Training Center in Beijing and intends to help media professionals and trainers aged 35 to 40 improve their teaching techniques. The workshop will include lecture presentations, interactive discussions and individual and group presentations.
