The Asian Mass Communication Studies and Research Center (AMSAR), in association with The Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand (FCCT), is calling for papers for a conference on the Roles of Media During Political Crisis. Papers should specifically address issues in Southeast Asian media.

Journalists and journalism students can attend a symposium on March 9 in Nairobi, Kenya, organized to discuss the implications of the new Kenyan Communications (Amendment) Act, which grants the government the sole right to distribute media licenses, control media programs and penalize media infractions with prison terms.

African journalists are invited to submit articles to be included in a journal dedicated to the study of journalism in Africa. Deadline: March 1.

An upcoming summer course on media development, designed for students with Masters or Doctorates, will introduce journalists to research tools necessary for collecting information and conducting comparative studies. Deadline: February 16.
