  • Diversity project sends Moldovan reporters to Bosnia, Georgia

    An ongoing diversity program for Moldovan journalists includes training sessions, study trips, and a regional conference, among other things.

    The Independent Journalism Center (IJC) in Chisinau is organizing the program with support from the British Government’s Russia-CIS Conflict Prevention Pool. The idea is to raise awareness of the diversity of Moldova’s different ethnic groups.

    Journalists who cover the 20th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster should take precautions if they approach the contaminated zone, experts warn.

    The International News Safety Institute (INSI) recently relayed an advisory for journalists, warning that radiation in the area is still unhealthy – especially inside the 30-km zone around the reactor.

  • Tehran plane crash kills dozens of journalists

    A plane that crashed in Tehran, Iran, was filled with dozens of journalists on their way to cover a military exercise. The crash killed more than 100 people on board and on the ground, news agencies reported.

    Iran’s Interior Ministry said the crash killed as many as 116 people, including all 94 passengers. They included 68 journalists who were accompanying military personnel on their way to the Gulf city of Bandar Abbas.
