Ethics training aimed at journalists, experienced trainers

Journalists and editors have until August 18 to register for a workshop on the Botswana Media Code of Ethics, which will also feature a training-of-trainers component.

The workshop, scheduled for August 22 to 24, is co-organized by the Press Council of Botswana and the Media Council of Tanzania, and sponsored by the British High Commission.

Central Asian print media trainers get seminar in Almaty

Publishers and editors from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will take part in a seminar to help them learn how to train their colleagues in management. The seminar is scheduled for April 10 to 14 in Almaty.

The International Center for Journalists and Internews Kazakhstan are organizing the seminar, to be led by American trainer and media consultant Ann Olson. Participants will discuss issues relevant to managing print media, and they can also suggest topics for discussion.

Teachers across Liberia participate in journalism training

A two-day training session brought 34 teachers from more than a dozen schools across the country to study the basics of journalism. The event took place March 9 in Monrovia, the local Analyst newspaper reported.

Newspapers in Education (NIE) and the Publishers Association of Liberia organized the training in cooperation with the World Association of Newspapers (WAN). NIE works to help educators use newspapers as a teaching tool for underprivileged children in more than 50 countries.
