An international, multilingual Web site won a US$10,000 cash prize September 18. The Web site collects blogs, photos and podcasts from more than 130 countries as a way to help citizen journalists worldwide access and publish information about their community.

Southern Africa

Southern African journalists are invited to an annual conference on investigative journalism. Registration deadline: August 14. The event will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, and costs R1,200 (about US$174).

A new journalists' group in Paraguay, to be announced at the end of April, plans to emphasize training for their colleagues. The Foro de Periodistas de Paraguay (FOPEP) includes journalists from various newsrooms across the country.
