Mexican journalists who cover drug trafficking, organized crime, or business/government corruption are invited to take an online course on high-risk journalism. The course will be held April 10 to May 8. Deadline: March 26.

Young journalists of Ibero-American countries whose works defend and promote the values of freedom, equality, justice and human rights can compete in the second edition of ‘La Pepa 1812’ journalism prize. Deadline: March 15.

The prize intends to honor the work or accomplishments of journalists younger than 35 years of age. Works in Spanish and Portuguese will be accepted.

Journalism and non-profit organizations in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tadjikistan are encouraged to apply for grants to expand human rights, support independent media and develop effective public policy. Deadline to apply: March 31.

Grants will total €50,000 (about US$72,500), offered through the government of the Netherlands.

Applications are accepted in Russian and English.

Global social media network Video Volunteers is sponsoring a new initiative in India to create community journalism for the poorest areas of the country. The organization will give 60 community activists training in video journalism. Training will begin in mid-January so those interested are encouraged to apply immediately.
