A course on advanced layout and design is open to print journalists in South Africa who have completed an introductory course on the topic, or have experience working with the basics of Adobe inDesign CS2.

The program, being offered by the Institute for the Advancement of Journalism in Johannesburg, will be held September 28 to October 1.

Journalists, editors, writers and journalism professors in Belarus are invited to attend a conference on the state of journalism in the country in 2009, to be held December 3 and 4 in Minsk.

Over the coming months, various short courses are available for journalists in Australia, through the Australian Centre for Independent Journalism (ACIJ) at the University of Technology in Sydney.

The courses are as follows.

Journalists are invited to a conference in Moscow that will discuss issues currently facing print media in Russian regions. Applications will be accepted starting September 1.

The conference, which will take place October 16 and 17, is being organized by the Fund for the Development of Information Policies and supported by the Federal Agency on Press and Mass Communication.
