    The workshop is hosted by Panos Paris Institute (PPI), from March 3-9. The theme of the workshop/seminar is "women's involvement in the economic development process in the DRC."     Saudi women journalists have the opportunity to compete for the chance to win cash prizes and scholarships to help boost their journalism careers, AFP reported.

    The scholarships and prizes are made possible by Princess Hassa. The Princess has promised to give prizes and scholarships worth US $270,000 a year to support female journalists.

    This is the third edition of the International Women’s Film Festival’s short film competition, organized by the University of the Philippines Film Institute. The contest is open to Filipino or international women, or transgender or other people who identify as women. The theme: “Wandering Wondering Wonderful Women.”

    The Association of Media Women in Kenya announces the Regional Conference on Engendering Macro-Economics and Trade Policies within the Context of Globalization. The conference, which will focus on the role of the media in economic globalization, is scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya from January 29-31. Deadline to apply: January 10.

    Media professionals from Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi or Kenya are invited to participate. Selected participants should bring copies of print or broadcast stories on the topic of globalization.

    The conference, which is organized by the Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK), will also focus on gender dimensions in trade policies and how those policies impact gender equality.

    The workshop, which will be hosted by the International Women’s Media Forum, the Kazikacs Family Foundation and Internews, aims to help women from the former Soviet republics become strong leaders in news media and form a regional network of support. The workshop fee is US$50, which covers roundtrip transportation, accommodation, meals and a small per diem for incidental travel expenses.
