New Web resource helps journalists learn to work with tech
A new for-fee Web site offers hands-on training, self directed courses, webinars, personal training sessions and more to journalists and others working in media and communications. Under the tagline "don't sweat the tech," the site aims to help media professionals thrive in the digital age, through an understanding of Twitter, Flash, mobile, content management systems, protecting online identity, photo slideshows, tech gadgets, and more.
Knowledgewebb, a project of the U.S.-based Webb Media Company, gives members direct access to the creators of popular Web applications and tools, mobile applications/handsets and other tech gadgets via targeted live chat sessions and discussion forums, called "Smart Rooms." Knowledgewebb also publishes regular short interviews with leading developers about tech trends and how they apply to journalism, public relations and beyond.
Members receive unlimited hands-on training, interactive live webinars and chat sessions and access to experts in a dozen different subject areas. Everything has been written and programmed specifically for content producers, "be they journalists, mommy bloggers, university public relations or even the head of a major broadcast network," according to the site.
