For May’s meeting, Crowell & Moring’s presentation will include a federal regulatory update on the FTC, FCC and FDA, recent state AG activity, false advertising class actions, Lanham Act cases, and a review of recent NAD, ERSP and CARU cases. Lauren Aronson is an Advertising & Product Risk Management counsel in Crowell & Moring’s Washington, D.C. office. Lauren represents clients across a variety of industries in advertising and marketing law. She has assisted numerous clients in initiating and defending false advertising challenges before the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus (CBBB), the National Advertising Review Board (NARB), and the Electronic Retailing Self-Regulation program (ERSP), and has provided counsel in Lanham Act suits. Aronson has also represented clients in investigations and actions brought by the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general relating to marketing and sales practices.
David Ervin is a partner in the firm's Washington, D.C. office and a member of the Advertising & Product Risk Management (APRM) and Intellectual Property groups. He focuses on the intersection of advertising and intellectual property law.
His practice focuses on the relationship between advertising and intellectual property law, primarily for consumer brands making significant investments in media and content creation and licensing. Specifically, he helps clients manage and protect their brands and intellectual property rights in connection with their advertising, media, sponsorship, licensing, sports marketing, e-commerce, loyalty program, and joint promotion activities.
Matthew Cohen is a counsel in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, where he practices in the Product Liability & Torts and Advertising & Product Risk Management groups. His practice focuses on litigating complex commercial, mass tort, and product-related disputes in both state and federal courts, and advising companies on consumer product compliance and enforcement issues before the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), U.S. Congress, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), individual states, and Health Canada.
Danielle Rowan is an associate in the firm's Washington, D.C. office and a member of both the Advertising & Product Risk Management and White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement practice groups. In her practice, she provides litigation and counseling services related to regulatory compliance, advertising substantiation, consumer protection, products liability, privacy, and cybersecurity. She also represents corporations in internal investigations.
Chalana Williams is an associate in the firm's Advertising & Product Risk Management and Antitrust groups. She provides litigation and counseling services with a focus on consumer protection matters, as well as the substantiation and defense of advertising claims. She counsels clients on compliance with statutes and regulations enforced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Federal Trade Commission. Williams also has experience assisting both challengers and advertisers in disputes before the National Advertising Division (NAD), as well as defending false advertising and trademark disputes in federal court.
