What's your best advice for finding a journalism job?

We were inspired by the advice from journalism educator Susan Brockus Wiesinger. When students ask her where they can find jobs, she has a one-word reply: “Everywhere.”

Her take is that good writing is always in demand and that professionals with journalism backgrounds can always find work.

So, where do you look for those jobs? And what's your advice on getting them?

Knocking Doors

I think they should knock at every door where they think they can find jobs. They may bounce back and back and back, but finally they may find rewarding jobs.

Thanks,

luck, persistence

By doing it - make sure you have the skills, photography, HTML, a foreign language, relevant contacts, follow the revolving door with sources like http://navigator.cision.com/

contacts, contacts, contacts

This never really changes - through other journalists (co-workers, competitors) and sources of all kinds. There are a lot of jobs published online, but in my experience it almost always takes some kind of personal connection to get hired...
